Where to Find The Perfect Wedding DJ

5 Ways to Find Your Wedding DJ

Depending on where you live, you may be inundated with wedding DJ choices, or struggling to find a professional who can get the job done. Either way, you’re going to want to make a shortlist of available DJ’s who fit within your budget, before you start to interview and narrow your selection. Here are a few ideas to help you start your search.

Direct Network

Friends and family should be the first place you look. Asking some married couples for referrals is a great way to hear about a DJ first hand. A Facebook post requesting some recommendations might be a good way to get your shortlist started.

Wedding Directories and Blogs

From Wedding Wire to the Knot, wedding blogs and forums are not only a great resource to help you plan your big day, they can also have vendor directories that include vendor contact information, service overviews, ratings and more. Here is an example of what a Wedding DJ Storefront looks like on Wedding Wire.

Wedding Venue’s Preferred Vendors List

If you’re booking a DJ, you should already have your Venue and your Date picked out. One quick call to your wedding venue should get you a list of their recommended or preferred vendors. The great part about this is your venue will likely have established relationships with vendors who do great work and already have experience doing weddings at your venue.

Facebook Groups

There are tons of great facebook groups to help you find wedding vendors, but before you go join any of those groups, you should know it’s a feeding frenzy. Most posts in our Local Facebook Groups will get 50-100 responses from vendors. It’s a good idea to turn your phone on silent and let those responses roll in. This can be a bit overwhelming for some.

Other Vendors

There are an endless amount of wedding vendors for you to sort through, so one of the best ways to find a few great ones would be to ask any vendors you have already hired if they can make some recommendations. Since they may have worked with them before, they can likely make some great recommendations.
